i went to Satan and got the gaskets i needed ($40) and then i bought the blue gasket maker stuff. How much was i supposed to use?? Hehe, I made a line all the way around the valve cover with it, was that a bad thing?? I am new to working on my car so don't be afraid to be truthful, :D

You put a very small bead around the round part of the gasket. That's the part of the gasket that fits in the groove of the edge of the valve cover. Place the gasket in the groove and let it set for about 5 minutes. Do the same with the spark plug holes.

But since you ran out before you got to the spark plug holes, you MIGHT encounter a leak later on down the line. The gaskets are good enough to where it's almost not necessary to use gasket sealer. You will want to check this after about 500 miles and make sure that you haven't filled your plug wells with oil. If you haven't, then it should be fine.

thanks alot mang....It was pretty much the first big thing i have done on my own. Now that its done i really don't know why i was afraid to take it apart to begin with. Oh yeah.....how long should i let my car sit without starting it. I know the stuff says to let it sit for an hour.....but i have also heard to let your car sit for a day.

I started my car about 10 minutes after I buttoned it back up. The heat from the motor will finish curing the silicone or whatever you used for gasket sealer.
