2265, Where to get NGK spark plugs and wires
Posted by nappyjim, May-23-01 03:22 PM
This might be a stupid question, but where did you guys get your NGK spark plugs and wire. I have been looking at my local car shops and I cant seem to find them.

Also, with the spark plugs, is one NGK better than the other. I noticed they have Platinum, Standard, VR 1, etc. Thanks

For lightly modified and stock normally aspirated cars the V power plugs are the most commonly used (NGK BKR6ES-11). Any parts store that carries NGK ,most chain parts stores, will have these (its the 7 range plugs that are impossible to get locally). Some people recommend switching to 5 range plugs (BKR5ES-11) but I dont (there is no logical reason a manufacturer would choose a colder less commonly used plug if it werent needed in some circumstances but thats just my opinion). It is also my opinion that the stock champion gold plugs work every bit as good and last longer.

NGK wires are not performance wires and have relatively high resistance compared to even the typical cheap spiral core wires. they are designed to last not to perform but you can get them at http://www.nopi.com

I'm not sure about this but from what I've been reading it looks like magnecore wires are the best for our cars. I didn't have a hard time finding them here in Colorado but I did have to go to a speed shop.
