22646, update on no spark. well i have spark now but.....

After Putting everything back together so i could take the car to a shop to let them fix the car i decided to turn the engine over just to see what might happen. The car started then shut off and fumed of raw gas. So i removed my spark plugs and found that they were fouled. So i put fresh plugs in and the car fired right up and after 2 minutes it idled perfect. Only problem is once you try to rev the car over 4,000 it acts like its hitting a rev limiter. Then after an hour of running the car shorts and shuts off. We then wiggled teh harness that has teh brown, and green junction boxes that goes directly under the battery box and under neath a white plastic plate and teh car started right up and idled fine but still had teh rev limit problem. although every once in awhile it would rev over 6,000. The car starts thats great, the problem could be isolated to one section of the wiring harness. If anyone has any idea as to what in the heck is going on now please let me know.If we dont find the problem by friday its going to a shop.
Thanks,
Brian

Check your MAP sensor harness.

Yeah, i just had that problem 2 weeks ago, i tried everything, including a new ECU, but no luck. It turned out it was the
Map sensor. The sensor isn't getting a reading, and is going into limpin mode. Try to disconnect the map sensor (unscrew the entire
unit), and disconnect the harness. You will notice your car will do exactly the same thing it is doing now. Bad MAP sensor, or wirein

Thanks fo the suggestion. Im still going to take the car to A local auto electric shop and have them work on it. Now that the car actually runs even only in limp mode it should be easier to diagnose and fix. Im sure the MAP sensor is causing it to act as if its hitting its rev limiter but the other problem still stumps me. The car shorts and shuts off on its own (goes from 3,000 rpms strait to zero, all idiot lights come on while the engine shuts off) so thats an obvious short. but when you wiggle anypart of teh harness towards teh fire wall and battery the car cranks right back up no problem. So hopefully with that info it should be easier to diagnose and fix.

Why cant this whole system be like my latemodel stock car i race? an MSD Distributor, 2 6-AL boxes, 8,800 RPM rev limit chip and 2 Blaster 3 coils. Spark problems are so much easier to fix.
