O K..car is going back together with the HRC Stg II kit and other goodies. Read about welding the diff pin and want to know if it really helps or is a waste of time. I can weld it myself..so no cost to do it. BUT..what if any side effects?? Just trying to make the stock transaxle last!! Thanks!!:)

No he's not talking about the spider gears, but the pin that holds them in. It does nothing for performance, but it is a worthwhile thing to do for safety. The pin is what can break, by welding it in place you stregnthen the stock differential. If you are not going to an LSD or it will be a while. I would do it. For peace of mind.

If you have the tranny out weld it in. The pin just vibrates loose and falls out. My first tranny went at around 50,000. It was pretty violent. The whole inside housing fell off, then i ran it over. This is not a good thing. Got the new tranny and welded the pin in place. I figured i could do the work myself but I tried and had problems with the reassembly due to an old bearing (sleave that holds in the rollers was pinched). So i paid 80 bucks to check all clearances and put it back together. If you are planning on making some serious power or just for safety do it. late mike
