22423, my car is now a test car for magnaflow exhaust Posted by ez, May-06-02 07:05 AM
Just dropped off the car today... They're designing the new cat-back system for our cars, and it sounds like it's going to be much improved over the old system. That must be pretty good because I've heard from some of you that the old system was nice. These guys are pretty cool - They said I'll probably get my car back by thursday, so I'll let you know how things turn out by the end of the week!!!

Are the new magnaflow exhausts still raspy?

well, when you get it back, jack it up, take pics of the catback piping as well as the muffler and post back to this thread, people like pictures.

I wasn't talking about the one you're getting. I'm talking about newer magnaflows in general. I mean, I got mine when they just came out with chrome finish mufflers and it is raspy.

get some dyno runs done if you can, too :)

Yah, they are putting the car on the dyno this week. I'll see if I can take some pictures and put them up by the end of the week. (It's about time I put up a sig pic anyway) However, I think they are going to take the prototype system back off so they can use it as the model for mass producing it in the next 2 months. So I'll probably be using the old stock system for a while. Patience everybody ;)
As for the "raspy sound" - I can't really help you out with that. I haven't used any of the newer models of magnaflow exhaust. But Brion at magnaflow says he knows about a bunch of things he wants to change (as compared to the older system) so I bet if there was a problem, it'll be changed as well
I'll keep you updated...

mine is just raspy when it's cold. After a few minutes of driving, it is kinda raspy towards the end if I drive hard, but usually a nice growl. I have a magnaflow muffler and a glasspack resonator. It isn't raspy until higher rpm's tho. I like the sound. That whistle the motor makes tho, at higher rpm's. People say they hear it thru my exhaust it seems. WTF? Some people say it sounds like a turbo spooling, but I never hear it really when my dad drives it by me so I can hear. Does that whistle mean I have an exhaust leak?

I can't wait to see the dyno results. I wonder of anyone in orlando does this kind of testing. I'd like to get a free muffler too!

DOH! I was gonna say Raspy-see Honda. It's when a muffler buzzes out and sounds like a suped-up weed eater.
