22269, Compression numbers and another question...
Posted by EclipseRST, May-04-02 05:11 PM
When I get the compression test done what numbers should I hope for? There's 60k on the odometer and I only drive the car hard when I race, want to impress chicks/friends, am mad, am late for something, or just feel like it.

By the way, do any of you have RS's with no power features? I have no power features at all and I know it lightens the car which equals more speed but does anybody else have an RS without power windows and locks? I don't want to feel left out =(.

Check out this link and it will have all the info you need for compression tests on our cars as well as the numbers to shoot for.

BTW, I am also an RS Lightweight edition! }>

I have a 96' rs eclipse no power, i like it. Starting to build up. Currently building the engine, adding twin turbo and dual stage nos. Estimates put the engine at 700+ hp when done. For injectors go to rc engineering, they have the best injectors and can tell you which ones are best for you.

You pay RC $80 - $100 a piece for their injectors, I'll pay $40 each for Accel injectors the same size. ;-)

hello?

Would you mind telling me how your paying for this and how it's supposed to work?

How is two turbo's supposed to help more than 1? Unless your doing some sort of sequential set-up I don't see the point. Just get one big turbo and then set-up your nitrous kit to help minimize boost lag.

Good luck!

You'll need lots it!

I've got the cheapo model.

I measured out approximately 1/4 mile very close to house and just use the same stretch for benchmarking time. I used to do it in 16.5 with no mods. I've got it down to 15.9 now(the cams helped alot).

0-60 in 7.29 seconds.

...oh - use a real stopwatch dude. It's the only way to be fair about it if you're not really at the track. I got a cheap one at the sports authority, and it has a permanent home right in the center console. :)

ya know.. if you use two smaller turbo's then you can get huge amounts of air-flow and much much shorter lag time. I would think that would be MUCH better then a LARGE single turbo setup. that's why i don't understand why on supra's they always remove the twins and put a large turbo in. why not just take it from a sequential twin setup to a dual standard setup. that's how my uncles 300zx is twin turbo (not sequential) and that thing makes MAD power with not too much lag (turbo's hit at about 3800rpm or somewhere around there, I forgot exactly) he's making 650hp like that so it's gotta be a pretty good setup.

Cause supras put the one HUGE turbo and make between 700 - 1000 HP.

Dude you must have a huge bank, dual turbo setup cost is going to be astronimcal not to mention my dumb ass question where is the second turbo going to be mounted considering turboing V-8 engines you can just put one turbo on each mainfold but in an eclipse WHERE THE HELL DO U PUT #2? and then you gotta figure how to make them work together, boost pressure, engine heat, fuel pressure and 15 million other questions I could ask and to top it all off nitro too, u probably ought to rethink this, seems like it would be easier to put a jet engine in it.

I don't understand how he'll even be able to match up two turbos on the length of a single turbo exhaust manifold. There are only 4 runners on that thing and space will definitely be an issue. I've never really heard of putting two turbos on an engine that small. Supras can do the twin setup because of the additional length that they have being an inline 6.

Plus, why even bother with running twins when you could buy something like a Turbonetics T-78 that would be big enough to outflow any twins that would be able to fit in that space. The T-78 is MONSTROUS and supports over 1000 hp, although a 4 cylinder with the low compression required to support 700 hp would not be able to spool it up decently before redline without a very large shot of nitrous.

To tell the truth, I very much doubt a 420a would withstand that kind of power without a whole lot of machining to strengthen the block and heads. The nitrous wouldn't help any either.

Sounds kind of like the kids at my school with the "V-4" that get 50 hp from a cold air intake or this one guy that told me he had 4 turbos on his Audi TT...

Just my two cents.
