this has happened to me about 4 or 5 times, 3 times when i just first start the car, the car will die as i back out of a parking space. twice it died while driving (once while cruising @ 35mph, another time when coming to a stop at a red light).

other than this the car runs great. no CEL, just get the usual 12 and 55 engine codes.

recently did a compression check, and got 190-195 all across

aside from this, the car runs pretty strong (put a car length on a convt' Z28 last night :) )

when this happened when i first backed out from parking, when i restart the car, the car will struggle to stay running for a lil bit, then all of a sudden, everythings fine. the two times it happened while driving, car starts right back up, and runs perfect.

idle is just as good as usual, vacuum is fine, everything seems fine?...

anything you can think of to check out?

i dunno much, but my ride would stall out on me when the connection of the camshaft position sensor was loose. your intake tubage may be restin on it pushin it outta its clip...

I had the exact same problem with mine, sometimes i would start it it would run for about a minute then die. I took it to Satan and there was actually a recall on the ECU. They replaced it and now it works great. Plus they had to give me a rental Diamante because they needed it over 3 days or something free of charge...It was pretty tight well hope this helped

This may sound weird, because they're not really related. But I had a similar problem when my starter got ruined during a flood. It would start, kinda hang for a sec and then die. It was random as well. I replaced the starter(got a new one from MS Recycling) and it's been fine ever since.

You have 30LB injectors and probably BKR7E plugs. The colder plugs along with the bigger injectors will cause this. If you let the car warm up, this will prevent this. I know you said it happened at 35mph and at a stop light also.....if the car was cold and was getting too much fuel, this could have been the problem.

I wait till my egt is at least 800F at idle and my water temp starts to come into the operating range.

I also have to keep my foot off the gas pedal when starting/warming up or it will flood it out.

Once my car has been driven or completely warmed up, starting it through out the day is never a problem. Unless it is 5-6 hours later.

If this is a problem for you, you might try using stock plugs for low boost daily driving and then put in 7 heat range for higher boost settings. I just like the safety of colder plugs to help prevent detonation.

Dont think its the starter, cause its happened twice while driving around town, altho all that underhood heat from the turbo cant be good for it. ill recheck CPS...

That may be it, cause i usually do let the car warm up before i even put it in gear, but i know i didnt that last night when it happened as i pulled out of the parking space. but i know the car was warmed up when it happened while i was drving :/. also, like yesterday, i didnt let it warm up cause my dad was up here to help me move, and waiting on me, so i just went, and car was fine :/... altho, that was during the warm day and not cool night....but then, when it died as a came to a stop @ that stoplight, it was hot as heck... (excuse me, im typing as i think, lol). its very random how it does it, doesnt seem to be weather related, since its done it in the cold and when its warm... hhmmmm, your suggestion seems to be the most probable yet tho, cause even when it died while driving, altho the car was warm, it was within the first 10 minutes or so of drving...

i have a similar problem as of right now..this morning my car would not start! so i didnt bother going to school since i was pissed.
this is not the first time it happened. It just happened on sat. when i was leaving work.

so i look at the battery terminal and there is a shit load of corrosion..white powdery stuff. so on sun. i replace the terminal w/ a new one and clean off all the corrosion, then it works fine, now this morning its wont start again. so i guess its not the corrosion thats blocking the connection. whats wrong here??
any help would be appreciated.

Maybe check your fuel pump relay wiring. I'm not sure how you did yours, but that's possibly something to look at. I know you're a 95 so you didn't have to construct entirely new fuel return lines like I did, but the whole fuel system si the only "altered" part of the car, so I would definitely look to that as a possible culprit.

ill check that out too Jason...after a recent "incident" on my friends turbod GSR, i planned on doing something w/ the relay anyways (we nearly caught his car on fire when the fuel pump relay for his inline pump hit metal and shorted, d'oh! lots of smoke and destoyed the lead wire to the really, but nothing else)

iron mike - bad starter maybe... clciking means you got power... and i *believe* the clicking is the starter solenoid opening and closing, so it should be fine...

too much fuel when you first start it?? that could cause engine to die out when you first start it up. (it happened to me) i have no idea about the cruising though.

Loss of camshaft position signal or crankshaft position signal can cause this as well. Check the wiring to the crank sensor (It's just above the oil filter on the 2.0L sohc, I think it's the same for the dohc) They get saturated with oil from the head gasket and eventually swell and bond together. Then they could short each other out. There's a wiring repair kit for like $10-15 from the dealer if you need it. Sometimes they don't always set a code unless it loses the signal momentarily and the car doesn't stall out.
