Hello fellow DSM'ers. I need some detailed help for my Cam gears. There are so many different info from so many different peeps that is just throwing me off in so many directions, I don't know where to start.

I am planning to get a NOS kit with everything (purge kit, bottle warmer, the works). But my buddies say that it's better if I install the Cam Gears. So began the research and quest for the ultimate in correct installation adn settings, but I end up nowhere, stuck in the middle of the sea of lost info.

Can somebody out there help me? My 1997 Eclipse GS is dying to come out of its own shadow and rip some heads off! Like a young Skywalker without Yoda, I need guidance...

Start by buying a service manual. The step by step is in there, all the torque specs you would need. Basically you'll pull the crank pulley, pull the timing belt cover, loosen the cam bolts, remove the timing belt, remove the cam gears. Put the new ones on and go in reverse form there.

What service manual do you recommend? Chilton's? Where can I find these books? I heard it's like very expensive, but also call ed the "bible" of your car...

I have the Chilton's It works well, the factory manual is better, but they run like $100+ The chiltons cost me $15. Eventually I'll get the factory manual.

camgear install isn't that bad, i did it on my brother's si, if you want a very specific walkthru you can IM me at mitseclps, but it's basically what he said in the other post. pretty stright forward. and the nitro is more straight forward than that, lol.
