if i bought some performance cams, how would i go about putting them in? is there some place i can go to show me how to set them? thanks.

It's a pretty nig install, ,this should NOT be the first time you are picking up a wrench :-)

Get a service manual, either Chilton's or a factory service manual. You'll need torque specs etc. You'll need to pull the timing belt and set the timing on the motor. So while I don't think this is very difficult, for those of us who wrench on cars often. It is time consuming. Give your self a weekend, and know what you are getting into before you undertake cam installation.

Dont try it yourself unless you have a good amount of wrench experience, i have a lot and it still took me 2 weeks and about 6 times to get it right. look for my other post about my cam install over the past week or so... have someone else do it.

It took me a combined effort of 3 days to get mine in....over the course of 3 weeks. I used the Chilton's as a refrence, and it can be vauge if you don't read into the job all of the way. I agree you should know exactly what needs to be done. The reason mine took so long was because I did miss a couple of things when trying to figure out how long it would take and what I need. It would have taken much longer without ramps, floor jack, 60 gal compressor, impact gun, air ratchet.

Make sure you have all of the appropriate "special tools" you need. For instance - I needed a long version(i used 100mm) of the crank bolt(with a nut) to adjust the timing and to reinstall the pulley. Make sure you have a 5 ton puller for the crank pulley - anything less will break. It's just all stuff like that, and it gets pretty deep so definately read into this one before you dive.

I was also very close to using my hoist at one point to just pull the damn thing out....but that was because it's a rebuild and the bolts to hold the motor mount bracket on the engine were simply too long(probably installed out of bay).

Anyway it's a big job.

I put a new head gasket on so I had to take out the cams anyway. But fast420A helped me out a lot!

To be honest, it was my first time working on my car.(Becides CAI). I say go for it. Labor cost more than the parts by far! Get a manual and you should be ok. Just read a lot and everything should be ok.

But I would get some NOS before spending $500 on some cams.

Hahahahahaha, he said NOS. NAAAAAWWWSSSSS. Unless your talking about the company its nitrous or N2O. Sorry couldnt resist. :P
