Ok....so a lot of people who has AFX pulley has this belt loose/shredding problems. Does anyone have it installed and haven't had problems yet...let's say after a year driving with it?

I'd like to get the pulley but with the obvious problem like this, i'm not sure about getting it.

I don't want to turn this topic into a how great the pulley is and never had any probs...(not to dis ur reply) but I need to know how many people this "has" happend to and what they did to correct it!~??

note* I bought the goodyears belts and only run the engine for 5 mins. when the shredding started......

welp, i have shredded one belt. the first ps/ac bando belt... i then re-torqued my udp to 105 ft. lbs. and havent shredded one since. i have also installed a second udp on a diff 2gnt, and that udp hasnt shredded any belts.... you really have to get that fakker on there, so all the pulleys line up and are parallel, and in the same "plane"... i used a ruler and my eyes to guage if they were aligned... also, im sure that looser belts have more tendancy to shred as well as belts that are too tight.. make sure the deflection is about 1/2 inch on both belts... nuthin more, nuthin less... and if you install new belts, u have to go back and retighten them after about a week of rollin around since they will stretch a little bit...

i hope that helps. ive ridden w/my udp fora lil under a yr... the only time i really worry about the belts is when im racin, cuz thats when the belts are more prone to shreddin/slippin off...

be careful cuz u dun wanna shred a belt, and have to make a big turn w/ no p/s

edit: if u cant get the pulley on any more, and u have had someone sit inside the car w/foot on brakes while u torque it down... try a 4 ribber belt for the p/s a/c assembly. i had to run one for a lil while, and it workd great. since it was 4 ribbd, not 5, it slipped right and left on the pulley but never shredded off A(even under high rpms).

edit2: check all your pulleys to see if they are'nt warped. spin em, and they chould spin freely, the a/c, p/s, and alt, not the udp... make sure they dont wabble when u spin em, cuz they may cause your shreddin...

do u shred em at idle?? or at high rpm situations, or just regular around town drivin???
