20955, manual transmission fluid?
Posted by Mystic511, Apr-21-02 02:18 PM
I went to get my oil changed.. and since my shifter seems to stick, i figured i'd asked them to change my tranny fluid too. They said they would try, but then came back and told me that my manual transmission uses "special fluid" and that I would have to go to the dealership to get it changed. Are they just talking out their ass or do i really have to be careful what kind of tranny fluid i use?

I'm just going to try to do it myself now instead of going to satan. What brand/type of tranny fluid should I buy?

ONLY USE THE MOPAR TRANNY FLUID FOR THE NVT-350 TRANSMISSION.

Yeah man.. you should be happy they realized it uses special fluids.. somebody on here got their tranny fluid changed at a oil place and it almost ruined their tranny.

Yeah use the fluid from Satan, I think i paid $12 a quart. It is pretty easy to change your tranny fluid. Just make sure you have a funnel with an extension hose before you start...

yeah it's special stuff he's not pullin your leg. But I'm using BG syncroshift and my tranny is fine. I've had it in for awhile now and no problems. It's starting to misshift though I think I just need to top it off.

Do I have to buy it from dealer or is there someplace online I can order it from?

you have to buy it from a dealership, anyone that carries mopar products, i just bought some the other day from the local dodge dealership, they keep it stocked, and charge you out the ass, i paid like 13.99 a quart or someshit... you cant order it online, its haz mat so they wont ship it, and if they will, it will not be worth it to ship 3 quarts of oil haz-mat...

I used the Mopar MTL fluid, part # 04874465, from a Dodge dealership. It was something like $14-15 a quart. I went to a Mitsubishi dealership, and the parts guy gave me a transmission fluid (possibly for another Mitsu type because the part number doesn't match anything close in to the part numberslisted in the manual, or on the tranny itself).
