I got my hands on an Apexi N1 (the real shit) universal muffler. Looking at the existing exhaust plumbing (directly before the stock muffler) it doesn't look like there would be room to add a bend and the Apexi to make it point straight out.

Anyone know if this is possible? (Muffler pointing straight out)

The stock muffler (actually a GST muffler) is roughly 22 inches long from tip to back of canister where plumbing enters, the Apexi is 18.5 inches from tip to end of canister with 6 inches of plumbing stickin out the back.

It looks to me like the muffler would have to be angled a bit because the inlet and outlet of the stock muffler is offset, probably about a 8-10 inch offset. I think I remember someone mentioning that to make their universal muffler fit they had to angle it. Anyone know? Anyone remember?

I guess this could be in the interior/exterior forum but it involves the exhaust although the question is more in regards to the asthetic appearance.

Ya most people angle their N1 installs. My magnaflow looks like the N1 style, and I also angled it. In fact, I think the N1 is supposed to be angled, it's a big thing in Japan.

Personally I think it looks cooler angled, I think it's totally JDM looking. I've seen a grip of Skylines, 240's, and just about every drift car I've seen has an angled muff :)

Anyone tell me if I made a mistake going with the Turbo version, it has a 3in inlet as opposed to a 2.5in with the NT? Backpressure issues, loss of low-end torque? I'm using stock plumbing BTW, until I get me a Pacesetter catback, then I'll have the Apexi welded onto the Pacesetter plumbing. The reason I chose the Turbo version is because it has a 4.5in tip whereas the NT has a 3.5in tip. I'm afraid it's gonna be crazy loud, at least they make a silencer insert.

BTW I got the black anodized version of the muffler, it looks friggin tight, like black chrome, I'll get some pics up.

Well they had to angle my Magnaflow muffler, because if i wanted it straight, then they would have had to make a very sharp bend in the piping to do that, which would negate the whole straight through design of the muffler. Our stock mufflers are offset on the inlet side, so thats why straight through mufflers have to be angled..

I got this Weapon R1 Atom Bomb uni. muffler...is mine suppose to be angled too since its a straight thru muffler? My muffler isnt 18" long its only 10" but since yur muffler is longer...will it be louder?
