I installed my AFX myself in my driveway on my 95 Talon. No problems here other than squeaky belts after a week of use. And yes I do like it, she revs up faster and a bit more power.

My belt screaks too. I think it's because either the udp is warped and/or that it's not installed all the way in (flushed), which causes a mis-alignment of the belt. I know mine is not flushed, but I think reassembling and heating of the aluminum udp will only make it worst. Just make it's not heated too hot or too long, and try to get it in as fast as possible, and get it in as much as possible; then it should cause any belt squeaks.

if your belts squeek just tighten your tensioners, i promise...just tighten til they don;t squeal. i have had my afx on my car for 60k+ and no squeeks or squeals. squeriously.

Thanks for the tip. When I have some time, I'll try tightening the tensioner some more. I hate it because it makes my car sound like an old car.

An AFX is an underdrive pulley, it replaces the stock crank pulley which is big and heavy. The afx one is ligher and causes the engine to work less in order to run the accessories such as the alternator and p/s.

I used the Bando belts that came with it for about 1 week with no squeaks, then they started whinning. I tightend them several times, i believe just about as tight as the alternator would go. That worked for awhile then they started squeaking again. Then i said screw it and bought some better belts and had them professonaly installed with my new alternator. That was one week ago, so far no noises YET!!
