20883, RE: turbocharger or supercharger Posted by Corbin, Apr-21-02 06:25 AM If its a positive displacement supercharger, I'd say go for it. If its a centifugal charger, I'd skip it. Like turbos, they have to be spinning within a certain range of speeds to pressurize the air (and do it efficiently). Since its rotation is directly tied to engine rotation, it will only be working well at a small range of engine RPMs. I've read that its like taking the negative aspects of the turbocharger (peaky power delivery) and adding them to the negative aspects of a supercharger (belts, brackets). You will see power gains either way, but if its centrifugal, I'd suggest just getting a turbo. Thats just my opinion plus some reading I've done in automotive texts. | |

I always seem so spend way too much time and money achieving what I think is the "best" solution. Almost every project I've done runs a little over budget and takes 10X too long. | |
