20827, front o2 sensor inop
Posted by nevercontent, Apr-20-02 05:41 AM
yeah so last year after i put on i/e/h, the check engine light kept coming on. my shop checked the codes and found that the front o2 sensor was fried and that i'd need a new one...i never got one cuz i'm lazy and was told it wouldn't affect anything till inspection. the light hasn't come on for months now, except today it just popped on. my question is, how much is a new sensor since inspection is coming up and will the new sensor just get fried like the old one or what?

I'm getting ready to change mine- AutoZone quoted me 99 bucks for a new one.

Yup about 100 bills for a new O2 sensor. But headers shouldn't fry that sensor, I have headers and mine is still good, did you drop the sensor or do anything that would of fucked it up when you installed your headers?

nah i was pretty careful around the sensor. plus i did, intake, header and exhaust all at once. from what my shop guys tell me, maybe the sensor was going already and then the influx of extra air going in and out just did the job. who knows...but i was just wondering how much it'd be to replace. i hope that this is the only reason for the check engine light. thanks

Hey i work at autozone, and they dropped the prices down to 79.99 for the o2 sensors, at least for my talon they did, the prices should be the same.

awesome thanks. does anyone know if my car will pass inspection without the o2 sensor working...if it will then i'm not gonna get a new one since it hasn't seemed to affect anything.

probably not.. there is a good chance you are running really rich of the front O2 sensor isn't working.
