if you think a vtec head would make your eclipse beat a LT1, you are gay.

somewhat related though,I read in some magazine that some company in Japan was making basically aftermarket cams, basically ones that would give the vtec effect(what else it comes w/ I don't know)for other car makes. The one in the magazine was on an EVO lancer.

mitstu already has "vtec" they have it on the '03 gt-s eclipse, gives a whopping extra 5 hp i think. ooooh, i'm scared now.

Nah man, thats not vtech. Its an adjustable length intake. Vtech would give much more than 5hp. I think their MIVEC FTO's make 15-20hp more than non-MIVEC equipped models.

i was looking at getting a gts (not really) and i checked out the brochure, it "said" it has variable timing and was rated at 215 hp, the gt has 205. there may be a difference earlier in the powerband that shows more of a gain, but all it has was peak hp

ATTN:.. variable timing does not mean it has 'VTEC' in the honda sense. My zx2 has what ford calls 'VCT' (Variable Camshaft Timing) on the exhaust cam and all it does is retard or advance the timing to change when the valves open and close. NOT how much they open and at what durration like honda's VTEC. On my car it's strickly for emissions purposes.. not performance.

Yes, some company is now making VTEC-ish cams for 4G63 eclipses (not ours). I saw them at SEMA and there's an ad I think in this months issue of SCC.
