2068, RE: CAI vs. ram air style box.... Posted by Corbin, May-19-01 03:23 PM I think it depends somewhat on where you live. If you live somewhere that never has standing water (or rarely does), the CAI would be ideal. If you get alot of rain and standing water, the airbox with cold air ducting would probably be better. Even with the bypass valve on an AEM CAI, I still wouldn't want to drive it in the wet (who wants a wet filter). I'm sure the CAI offers some power advantage over the airbox idea, so do it if you can. Another option is to get one of those filters that is enclosed except on the end. You hook another pipe up to the end of the filter. You can have a CAI without worrying about the filter getting wet. The bypass valve might still be a good idea here...otherwise you could still suck up water. Some things to consider... | |
