I want to have a higher redline speed in each gear. How much to change the gear ratio's. I thought about this when a guy said he "crusies at 120" in fourth gear(not an eclipse driver).

the redline (rev limit) is determined by the ecu. AF/x is working on an aftermarket ECU.

he was talking about changing the gear ratios in the tranny so that when he was at the same RPM he'd be traveling a higher speed. nothing to do with the rev limiter. not really anyway.

You'd basically have to change your final drive ratio, or atleast the size of 5th gear so you could get better high speed/low rpm crusing. but if you change the final drive gear, you won't be able to acclerate as quickly.
and so far as I know the only writeup there is to change the final drive ration involves putting in a smaller one.. not a larger one.

here is the final gear swap info for the automatics its a larger one, will increase acceleration/decrease gas milage/increase tranny temp.

look at www.armond30.com under technical info. There is something listed there discussing this. I have swapped from our stock 3.94 final drive to a 3.55 with a .72 5th vs our .81. Be aware this will hurt acceleration unless you are making lots of torque and power.

What was the swap with. I couldn't find anything about the swap. Just some technical info on the stock ratios.

What do you want to know about the swap, you take the tranny apart an switch the gears with the other ones and you are done. Pretty simple, just a good amount of work. I am keeping the 3.94 final drive on mine but switching my 5th gear from .81 to .72 for better 5th gear highway cruising.
