ok well u heard my car died while driving..

i checked the tbelt cover first thing yesterday and that was it.. it was gone

i talked with kyle and hes like you prob bent some valves or did more damage.
but i was like hmm not knowing to much about this subject.. i didnt hear any bad noise or nothing imean i may have missed it but i thought it would be a nice bang.
this guy i work with whos kinda into cars and bikes hes kinda old hes like there could be a possibility that i didnt mess it up.. a small one

now i was just going to have the t belt and all that junk replaced.

then have them or ill just do a compression test.. that will tell me if my valves are bent or not.. correct.

so kyle was like only way to tell is to take the head off.. would it be better

to ... drag car home . take of head check it out then get tbelt fixed and or head if its bad

b.... get tbelt done and then do comp test to see whats up with the valves???

If you threw the time belt off I can't see how you wouldn't mess up some valves but I guess there is always a small possibility. I'd just go ahead and rip off the head and examine it and then replace what you need to. It'd be a pain if you did your t-belt found out you have no compression and have to rip into again. Also, this way you can replace the head gasket.

that motor i was going to buy i didnt plan on buying it no more , but if my valves are smashed up then im going to buy it take the head and put it on my car.. gether running and sell it and get the gsx

and part out the rest of the motor

I think the only way you didnt bend valves is if the tbalt broke when your car was not on.

Any way. I changed my own headgasket and it was pretty easy. I would also get some stainless valves as well, even if you go to sell this could raise the value. But its all up to you.

Definitely just take off the head to check for damage. Most likely there is damage. Half the labor involves taking off the timing belt stuff, so it would make no sense to redo the timing belt, then check compression etc, then redo it all again when something goes wrong. There is a very high chance you bent valves, especially if your car died by itself while it was running. Check your CEL codes also if you can, and it may tell you "timing belt skipped one or more teeth" which is what I had.

My last car was a 1992 eagle talon. The timing belt broke on it while I was driving and I had to pay about $800 to get it fixed. At the time I didnt even know we had to change our timing belts at 60,000. It was about 8 years ago though so I was a kid.
