everytime i tighten my alt belt it stays tight for a while then loosens up again....ive been tightening up the screw on the top of the alt is there more to it????

Use a open end wrench on the bolt that hold sthe alternator to the bracket. Should be 15mm and loosen that bolt. Then tension the top bolt. Then tighten the side bracket bolt. See if that helps.
