20347, 2.4l from what car?
Posted by Avenger, Apr-15-02 10:29 AM
Since I'll be pretty much unable to go anywhere this weekend I was planning on doing some phone shopping for a 2.4l block. Why? I'm tired of my 2.0l, I'll be bored out of my freaking mind, and just feel rather frisky. Anyways, I know one from a stratus will be ok, and a pt cruiser. Is there anything else that has the 2.4l 420a? On a side note, does all the 2.4l blocks have balanced shafts? should I also get the bedplate? crank? oil pan?

The first link has the info about removing the balance shafts.

What's up this weekend?

Stratus, Breeze, Cirrus, PT... all 2.4L, all have balance shafts. Get the whole shortblock. Our oilpan should fit, as should our head. Highly consider getting it ported to hell and back for the 2.4L block. All the mounts should be the same, your ECU will work (unless you want a speedo :))..

Hey Jeff,

Just email it to me. I won't be home till very late tonight so I won't be on AIM. avenger@quietrage.com

What's up this weekend? Well, since I'm having my lower 2 wisdom teeth removed on Friday, my weekend is shot to hell. I'm hoping I'll be able to talk well enough on Saturday to call around and look for a 2.4l block. And hopefully if they are open on Sunday, be well enough to actually go get it. Then in the next few months, eliminate the balance shafts, have it machined, get some pistons, rods, etc, and have this nice 2.4l bottom end sitting in my garage. Then debate on when I'm actually gonna put this in my car. Except for the machining, I'm going to attempt to do most of the work myself.

Knowing that it was actually done (Josiah) removed the last bit of doubt that has been holding me back from doing it. And when the custom turbo gets done ... woohoo look out. :) How fast do you think that 2.4l is gonna spool my 14b, Dino? hehe. }>

I'm not sure you can get the 2.4L in the breeze.. and if you can,it wont be common. mine had a standard 'neon style' 420a 2.0L SOHC.

I know the breeze has the 420A, but i was not sure if it was a Neon style 2.0 or a PT style 2.4 .. you are most likely right, however.

I know my 97' had a 2.0L SOHC neon style. and I'm pretty sure that the Breeze's didn't have any options for different engines.
