Hey all I just installed my AFX TB and something's not working right:( When I turned on the car it now idles at about 2k+ RPMS and I am not sure why. It looks like the butterfly may be sticking a little bit, but other then that I am not sure. What are some troubleshooting tips for this issue? Thanks for da help:)

Make sure the butterfly is closing all the way. Some guys were having problems with their idle due to the butterfly not sealing. Youll just have to take a look.

Thanks man ;) Well I checked the butterfly and it looks like its closing all the way so I don't know. When I first start the car it idles fine (800-900). But when I rev it it drops down to 1500 and wont go down any, unless I manually push the butterfly closed (push the thing the throttle cable is connected to) and then it drops. Why is it sticking open a little? Is this something I can fix, or should I send it back? I appreciate any help because I can't really drive my car w/out heating the engine up majorly because of the high idle:(

you need to have more slack in the cable.. look on the main page, there is a how to on it. when you put the bored tb on, you may have messed with how much slack in the cable there is.. it cannot be too tight, otherwise, when your car is supposed to be at idle, the cable will hold the tb open a little bit.

i'm not sure if you can.. but I almost did it on my AF/X TB. but one thing I hated was that the return spring they put on it was really weak. I was gonna take it and give it another twist so it'd have some more strength to it. that might help ya.

Well thanks guys. Anyways I checked the throttle cable and it was fine. Is it possible that the butterfly didn't fit right inside? Because thats what it looked like. Anyway I took it off and put the stock TB back on and am going to send it back. Thanks again

so, putting the oem tb back on fixed the prob? damn, i was gonna tell you to check your pcv valve, if that hose breaks or comes loose, it will cause you to idle high... i was like what the f**k, and looked under the hood and it had came loose, plugged it back in, idle was perfect...

Yeah putting the oem tb fixed it. It runs perfect now???? So I don't know if I just got a bad apple or what but I'm gonna have the local shop order me another to see if that is the case.

if it looks like the butterfly doesnt fit correctly, than thats probably the your problem right there. i know that there has been several members that have had issues with their butterflies after having the tb bored out. i think that they will fix it for you free of charge and shipping if you just let them know of their error (if that is the case).

Check the o-ring seals on the TPS, and the AIS. If you pinch them when installing the sensors, it will give you that exact problem. It is very common on the install of these, and once the o-rings are properly positioned it goes away.

Thanks for the reply Gary, but the butterfly was stuck open because of some loose screws on the TB(at least when I tightened them, it works now) :) Anyway I do appreciate your response, thats what I call customer service.

I did the wonderful o-ring pinch first time I installed mine and was idling up that high. Others have forgotten to hook up the vaccuum line of the TB and had screwed up idles.
