I removed the Converter and my Check engine light comes on...I know it is the 02 sensor going nuts but is this something I have to live with or can I eliminate it?

Take the bulb out, I took mine out a year ago because it bugs...

My CEL came on for about 2 weeks after I gutted my cat but hasn't come on since in the past year or so.

No one sells 02 simulators? I know that the guys who buy off-road y-pipes (eleminate their cats) or gut their cats on F-Bodies and Corvettes can buy 02 simms for about $100. That seems a little steep, but apparently if these cars start throwing error codes like that, the computer tries to compensate with sending more or less fuel into the motor. I don't know the deal with Eclipses, but it seems like you should be able to pick those up somewhere.

I am trying this mod out right now. It basically involves using a resistor to lower the amount of O2 signal from the rear O2 to the ECU. I used a 1 Mega Ohm 1/2 watt resistor instead of the 1/4 watt resistor that he uses.

After gutting my cat and before this mod, my car had CEL 72 and the CEL for EVAP and EGR, plus my car drove like crap and had bad gas mileage. I currently have modded my rear O2 like this for about 3 days now after an ECU reset. My car drives noticably different. I have no CEL's and my gas mileage has increased. (we will see how long this lasts) The car seems a lot more smooth now. The real test will be this weekend when I drive to Orlando to drive a NASCAR at Disney. I will see if my highway mileage improves. Also, I would recommend getting a straight pipe installed instead of leaving an empty CAT on the car. I swear my car felt much better after getting a straight pipe. I believe this to be due to smoother airflow out the exhaust.
