My 97's fuel filter is located under the car, just ahead of the right rear tire. If you do replace your filter, MAKE SURE you use NEW washers (provided)and install them the way they came off or you will GO NUTS trying to figure out why gas is spilling all over the place.

if your fuel filter isn't on your firewall, then chances are it is right next to the fuel tank, in front of the right rear tire. Unbolt three screws to gain access to the filter itself. Then be very careful unbolting the two screws that actually holds the filter. Make a note of the orientation of the filter. use new washers. and take care not to crack the fuel line.
