ok i just bought a pacesetter muffler and it is 2 1/2 inlet and our stock pipe is 2 1/4. I want to weld it on but do i need a reducer from 2 1/2 - 2 1/4? or could I use a tail pipe expander? I saw I could get one from autozone. could i expand the pipe or should i just get the reducer?

tha Pfunksetta is a bolton affair. all u need is an adjustable wrench and sum rust eater crap, and you're good to go.

no need to weld or ne thing.. bolts right up to the catalytic convertor...............

Most people buy the cat-back and cut OFF the muffler and put their own on. I would think there would be cheaper options out there that probably would sound better.

Mindblowing03..... I gave my pacesetter muffler to hurricane GS after I got my new one welded on and it sounds great on his car. It has a way better sound than stock.

I just got the muffler and tip for $30. I thought this would be better than the gst muffler and would sound better. just the tip is $30 at summit. I'm just getting this because i'm saving up for stainless exhaust and headers. Well anyway:

What do I need to do to get it to fit? Could I just slip it over the stock pipe and weld or what. do i need a reducer or could i use the tailpipe expander to expand the stock pipe a little?

The only thig I dont understand is why people buy the pacesetter exhaust(185) and then buy a new muffler(100) for it(285)? wouldn't you rather buy an OBX stainless steal cat-back for $300.

the pacesetter muffler doesnt sound bad at all IMO. The only reason I changed mine was because I didnt like the way it looked.

Cuz its cheaper and people prefer the look of the universal mufflers over the OBX

If your doing it yourself you will need an expander. I would just take it to midas, etc. give them like 60 bucks and call it a day. Thats what I did, well my pipes are 2.5" but many folks put aftermarket muffs on stock pipes

at the muff shops the pipe bender has a lil side peice that stretches the pipe. in your case they would take some 2.25 and stretch it over the muff nipple and weld it together.

Ok, but i'm doing it myself. I'm not about to pay $60 to install a $30 muffler. Thanks for your help. I'm going to get the pipe expander and just use a clamp instead of weld. It should rust together in no time.
