Posted by Mattcky2k, Apr-07-02 08:34 AM
ok i'm going to get an exhaust soon and have narrowed it down to two. i'm either going to get the arospeed tunable bomb muffler from speedandstyle.com or one from speedpeople.com that i don't think has a "brand" name but says it is HKS syle. is it a real HKS or what? please help!!!!! thanks

that's not really a which exhaust is better situation.. that's a which muffler do you like better. Now if you were looking at cat-backs.. then it'd have been more of a which exhaust is better ;)

although, I don't think i've heard anyone on here really complain about one muffler over another muffler.

It's all good..that's what we are here for is to teach and learn :)
I don't know about 2gnt's but I've heard a could escorts with Magnaflows.. and they sounded damn good and deep.. just a little loud for my taste.

I think you should go with the Apex-I N1 muffler and change the tubing to 2 1/4in. from the cat-back. Because it sounds like you are tring to save money and this will only cost you around 250 or so. It is alot better than arospeed. Just my opinion!

nightrider.. if i'm not mistaken.. the stock exhaust piping on a 2gnt is 2 1/4 inches.. so putting some more in won't help any ;)

2.5 inch piping would be optimal in our cars. A few months back, Sport Compact Car said in a Build Your Own Exhaust article that 2.25 would be optimal for our size engines. But a subscriber just wrote them back in this months issue saying that 2.5 would be an optimal size exhaust for our size motor.

The reader has been making and dyno testing exhausts for years and ill take his word for it. Check out his reply in the latest SCC or you can probably see it on their website, www.sportcompactcarweb.com

I think 2.5" is the best for us. The stock piping is 2" diameter. And you could replace 2" piping with 2" piping and get a gain as long as the replacement piping is mandral bent, compaired to the press bend stock pipe. Mandral bending keeps circular shape through the curves, and bends of the piping.
