19508, Hey Corbin: Question about your SAFC boost mod
Posted by Kiku, Apr-06-02 10:38 AM
Hey Corbin,

I'm trying to setup my safc on my car with your boost mod (the add on to read boost instead of tps voltage) and I have a question or maybe a problem.

I am getting confusing readings as far as the throttle percentage. With the car off (0psi), i get about 100% throttle position. The voltage from your sensor is about 1.5v at 0psi.

With the car on at about 19mercury of vaccum, i get ~29% throttle position.

I took the car out without the map connectors hooked up so i can see how the afc is reading the car, and at way before full boost (about 9psi) i hit 100% throttle position.

Is this normal? I am not getting about max of 64% throttle at 7.5 psi like your instructions says.

Thanks for the help. If you need more info, just let me know.

Nevermind. I had the boost mod hooked up to a 12v source instead of a 5V source. Now it works PERFECTLY!!!!!!

Now to the hardest part - tuning it!

Like his instructions says, the map sensor + wire. I just got the color of the + and - wires that go to the map sensor, and then looked at the ECU side of the wire. Both + and - wires are on the LOWER connector to the ecu.

Sorry I didn't get to this in time (gone on business). All of this should be at:

http://www.houstonhardware.com/~cbehnken/foolafc.html

I added a diagram to the site recently which makes everything much more explicit. I am now including this with the sensor. I am always updating my pages with new information.
