Hey, I own a 96 RS and I'm looking to purchase a stage II hrc turbo. My car has almost 100k miles on it and I'm wondering how my engine will hold up to it. Also, I've noticed on these forums how the stage IIs are running low 14s instead of mid/high 13s like hrc web site says. What should I expect to run in the 1/4 with a stage II kit? Thanks a lot.

Expect mid to low 14's. A high 13 is possible but it requires about 9-10 psi which cant be done safely without race fuel.

Do a compression test on your engine to see the condition of your internals. If the numbers are OK it should be fine to turbo. But with 100,000 miles you better plan on rebuilding that biotch soon. Turbos and high miles arent a good combination if you ask me. I have 90,000 miles and have been turboed for almost a year and I am going to rebuild it this summer. Anyone that puts on a turbo kit needs to realize that that it isnt "if" your going to blow your engine its "when" is it going to blow. Some thing is going to give on a boosted engine eventualy. Most likely its going to be the ring landings. Everyone that turboes their car needs to plan out getting new pistonssometime in the future. But 99% of us that turbo are cars will want to rebuild anyway. Boost is addictive and you will want more and more.

Dont tell him that, I do it every DAMN day. It has nothing to do with luck, or anything. I know what im doing, I check compression atleast once a month to make sure its not harming the engine in any way. My compression is the EXACT same (did it yesterday) as it was before the turbo (turbo'd for 3 months). You can easily run 9-10psi daily if you manage it properly, make sure what your doing is going well with the engine. I also get those mid low to mid 13's that HRC claims, atleast I use to before fuel started being gay and not leaning down. I ran a new SS Camaro. I believe its a high 12, low 13 car ( i won by a length).
