19405, FREE Prototype oil cooler kit Posted by wes1, Apr-05-02 09:19 AM
I work in the Sales and R&D for Cool-Tek, a division of Perma industries inc. I am one kit away from having our Sport compact program complete. www.perma-cool.com/cool-tek I need to find a 1995-1999 Eclipse non-turbo vehicle to prototype an engine oil cooler. If your in the socal area let me know. I will assemble and install this kit at no charge. The vehicle MUST BE NON-TURBO. wesf@perma-cool.com

I have to ask, for the sake of our membership: Can it be a 420A powered 95-99 NT DSM, with an aftermarket turbo kit? Many of our members are turbocharged.

Yes that is OK. The factory turbo models have a very weak oil pump. Only 7-10 psi at idle which may cause potential oil pressure problems. There is too much liability issues with factory turbo models for us to get involved. Thanks, Wes

Engine oil coolers will in no way cause damage or shorten the life of your engine. The only damage may result when used on vehicles with less than 10psi oil pressure. Sorry this is in response to #5 not #4.

cool too bad I already have one. Monster B&M supercooler for muscle cars :P
That would good for you guyz to manufacture us a cooler though. Turbo especially need it. The oil cooler will only preserve the life of your engine and turbo. Remember oil is also a coolant and if it gets too hot it don't cool so well and it don't lubricate so well either.
Make some good custom mounts for our bumpers and you've got business buddy because I just type wrapped mine to my power steering reservoir. Sometimes I think the oil cooler is way too big for the car... One thing you might want to put into consideration is oil filters, if you gonna use a sandwich adapter it'll move the filter 1 inch closer to the ground so you should recommend a shorter filter to use, I'm using a shorter one right now.

As of yesterday April 9, 2002 the Eclipse oil cooler has been completed. Kits should be available in 2-3 weeks. Thanks again Kaiser for all of your help. I should have photos available to email or post at the end of the week. Thanks, Wes
