ok, i know that in stock form, at least on our cars, the MT is better than the AT. right now, i have an AT. if i were to get a torque converter and a shift kit, could i perform as good as a well driven manual? which would cost more, the converter and shift kit or a swapping my auto for a manual? thanks.

I think it was 99Eclipse who "claims" that he has it and it performs well. I havn't seen his dyno charts or track slips so thats why I say "claim".

I know PuRe RaGe had quite a bit of Level10 work done and he was still much slower than a manual. I think your better off for the cost involved getting a manual swap. Ray ran 28psi on his auto so it really didn't matter a whole lot.

manuals are faster, dramatically faster, but autos are pretty coold too, they both have ups and downs (not losing boost while shifting ect..) you want level 10? get level 10, you want a swap, go for it, more power to ya!

yeah, you're right, they do both have pros and cons. but, its just that, well... everytime i shift into D its like a little piece of me dies, lol. so i think i am gonna go with the swap. anyone have an estimate?

alot of people think that with the same mods, an auto will be faster than a manual which is not true. if you put all the same mods on each of the cars, a manual will be faster and have more power than an auto. in cases of NOS and turbo, while a manual shifts, it looses boost from the turbo and has to respoil plus you have to hit the NOS at the right time, where as in an auto, you have constant boost when it shifts plus you can hit the NOS and has a constant flow. so therefore you have a lot to think about. in stock form, the manual is better than an auto.....plus its more fun

im thinkinif you take your auto tranny to a junk yard that they will do a dead trade since an auto tranny is more expensive then an MT so i would try dat shit first

Well, I just finished the swap last night at 12:00. I love it, and I think that it is a worthwhile mod for any A/T car. Huge difference in power and handling. Beautiful. Time to go out driving again, in fact. By the way, it cost me about 800 bux when all was said and done.

also, manual redline is at fuel cut, auto shifts at like 6k, or so i heard. while u keep your boost (auto) cuz u dont have to shift, manual gains on u w/power from upper rpm band that auto dont have ;-)

also, the engine has to power the auto tranny, or sumthin has to, and the auto tranny weighs in about 2-300lbs more.....
