Has anyone tried the GUDE head and valvetrain kit. A.k.a the one with the ported and polished head, new camshafts, valves, and valve springs. It's a complete top half replacement. I thinking of getting one, but I wanted you guys opinion first. I just ordered my HRC stage 2 kit with FMIC and I want to rebuild the internals so I can attain high boost! I sold my motorcycle so I got a couple g's to spend on the powerplant finally. Anyone's advice will be greatly appreciated.

i don't know about for the 420a.. for the ford I4 motors.. GUDE kicks butt.. their headkit for the zetec is great and yeilds mucho power (especially when coupled with a good exhaust and intake).

As far as I know, gude only makes a kit for our car for high compression applications. You may want to double check that they are not decking your cyl head to increase compression...
The porting job is decent, but expect to have the cyl head reconditioned (i.e. have the valve guides/seals/seats checked up to spec) as they just port a "traded-in" cylinder head and ship it out to you without much care for it.
If you get the cyl head gasket surface decked for high-compression applications, you will need a machine shop to clean out the surface as they did a bad job of decking the surface in the first place. So bad that for my machine shop to fix it, they had to deck so much that caused that cyl head to raise the compression by 3 points. _________________ Vinnie Lima kiku@asog.net AIM: Kiku888 1997 Chrysler Sebring "Silver XTC" I4 420a w/ HRC Stage 2.45 w/ FMIC 14.7@97 mph@6psi Proud member of the ASOG BoOsT JuNkIe Crew

Thanks for the info, I've dealt with GUDE before (I owned a escort) and they're pretty good, but I didn't know about their DSM products. Do you guys know of anyone who can help me to re-inforce my auto tranny. Like I stated before, I just ordered my HRC kit and the last thing I want is to be hampered by a weak tranny. Can the auto hold up to this power increase?

Send the tranny to Level-10 if you are worried.. but I heard it's like 3500 bucks to get it rebuilt, but will hold like 500HP, or something crazy like that.
