ever since i put that new pulley on, I couldn't steer far left/right, it would shriek, but now just at idle it gets pretty loud not moving the wheels at all, and when I start it up its the same, when I turned on the ac/defroster that shit got loud. anyway i searched around and saw that alot of people lost their belts, got a 4 ringed belt, shredded their belts, somebody said something about two bolts that you use to tighten or loosen the power steering, can anybody help me locate those?

also I thought maybe I should check the power steering fluid, its not on the minimum but its low, could this help with that shrieking noise? what kind of fluid do i need, does any kind work?

ok one more problem, i was searching around for the steps of draining my radiator, anybody point me towards the steps I'm looking for or just tell me real quick would be a good help? and also, do you really need to use distilled water, my god, that sounds a little obsessive compulsive, but if you need to I guess?

Yup, that is definitely the UDP. Me and Eclipse804 have the same problems. Well I had, before the belts shredded. It would squeal everytime u had the wheel turned far left or right. Maybe u have to retorque it or something b4 they shred. Are u using the old bando belts? Might as well get new, stronger ones. So far, mine's are doing ok, no squealing yet. But during idle, I could hear the faint whirring of the belts. Might have to retighten them again.

Ya it's just retightening the belts. It's really easy to tighten the power steering belt, just search the archives. Mine completely stopped squealing after RRE worked on my car about a month ago. I guess they tightened it much better than I did, but I used to always have that squeal when you turn to the far left or right.

the squelling is teh belts slipping on teh pulleys.. if your belt is sliping that means it's not tight enough.. plain and simple.

I don't understand why so many 2gnters have problems with squeling belts.. do you guys just never tighten the belt enough or something? Also.. if you don't have an auto tensoiner (i spelled it wrong.. but 2gnt's don't have it anyway) then after you run with the belt for a few days you need to retighten it cause it will stretch some if it's a fresh belt.

I have kept quite on this subject for a while. but so far as I can tell from everybodies posts, ya just seem to be ignorning standard belt problem solving. If it's squeaking it's not tight enough and will very soon good bad from the slippage. and after you put a new belt on.. after a week to a month you always need to re-tighten the belt because you don't have an auto-tensioner and belts stretch when they are new.

Breezio, the problem is due to the AFX UDP and belts that come with it. Stock, we have no problems with squeaking, so people typically don't have to tighten it. But almost everyone with the AFX pulley will get squeaking eventually. Of course, a few days after installing it, we had to retighten it since the belts stretched. But then every few months, it tends to start squeaking again. In the four years I've had my car before the UDP, it never squeaked or needed tightening (it sometimes had minor squeaks but nothing as horrible as the loud squeal after the UDP).

so where are the bolts to tighten the power steering? that squeek when i turn far left/right will never go away? i've had it for a month now, and its starting to kill my ears. anybody no the steps for a radiator flush?

Here is what I did with my radiator flush (a quick 20 minute flush)

go under you car and on the bottom of yout radiator on the passenger side you'll see a white petcock (near the clear plastic tube).

Unscrew this and your fluids will drain out. once this is finished, remove the radiator cap and it shoudl be empty.

It help to have a friend, but I took my garden hose, filled the radiator and have my assistante start the motor. this will enable the old fluids to be flushed out while you replace it with fresh tap water.

When the fluids coming out of petcock is clear, you are done. refill it back up with ethylene at 50/50 after replacing the plug.

all done.

remeber to wear goggles at all time. And watch for pets. They love antifreeze.

Ya distilled water is more pure than tap water so it's better. And for the UDP tightening, you can search the archives to see how to tighten it, someone did a good job of explaining it. You basically loosen this locking thing, then tighten the belts, then retighten the locking thing. But it might still squeak when you turn far left and right. At least mine did, and so did Sonicyan's.

Just don't turn it all the way to 'lock' hehe.

i tightened the tensioner pulley and it was kinda loose, but i tightened it and the squeeling didnt go away, wtf?
