well there in, it was not easy. a couple of cuts, a banged knuckel and i can't beleive it but i called my car a f**kin bitch hope she forgives me. i didn't mean it. i spent a lot of the time under the car. the only real big pain was the alternator bolt. while i was under there i notice a lot of oil whitch i just replaced the VC gaskets so i hope that it's just from that but there was a lot on the tranny. Q: the oil in your tranny isn't like engine oil, right?, isn't it thin and redish looking. i guess what i'm wondering is, is it tranny oil i see? hope not. i think i'll change the oil maybe next weekend. anything i need to know about changing tranny oil???????

If you have an auto the tranny fluid is red. Not sure about a manuals oil. If you were losing that much fluid from an auto you would know it. I blew a tranny line two weeks ago and the car wouldnt even begin to move until 3,500 RPM's. I lost 5 quarts and had to fix it in the K-Mart parking lot...lol

it's a 5 speed, the fluid on the tranny looks like engine oil. and the car does shift a little diff for about 2 months ago. it's not as smooth as it was and sometimes i have to put it in first before i can put it in reverse. and sometimes i have to let the cluch out and push it back in to get it into first. i'm thinking maybe my cluch is on it's way out the car has 100k on it and i dont know if the previous onwer did anything as fare as mantainance. any help would be greatly appreciated.

auto tranny fluid is usually red while gear fluid is usually a light tan kind of like regualr oil...your prob may be a trans axel seal leak or a head gasket leak that may be dripping down from behind the 4th cylinder (420a engine) on to the tranny good luck.
