I have everything in and the car starts. (Barley) I have to open the throttle up 1/4 of the way for it to start. Then I have to hold it there for 30 sec or so and slowly let my foot of the throttle. If I just let my foot off the throttle right after I get it to start it just dies. When I let off the throttle it is idling about at 550-600 tops.

I took it around the block and when I came to a stop sign it just died on me. The rpms will drop down to 200-300 after I take my foot off the gas. Sometimes it will die and sometimes it will hover around 300 and slowly climb up to 500.

I have a CEL code 25
Does anyone know how to fix code 25??? This code explains the low idle but I don’t know what is causing it.

Also I put on the afx udp. When I rev the engine the lights get brighter and when the rpms drop so do the lights.

Everything else seems ok as of now I just cant get my car to idle right.

Also I am smoking alittle in the rear. It is a white smoke and it isn’t real bad but it is constant. Is this norm for the first startup or is something wrong.

I had a similar problem. I took it to the dealer. It ended up being the timing belt. its fixed now and runs better than ever.

Make sure the idle air control motor is plugged in, make sure the wires are not severed anywhere.

hey bro, the code 25 is Idle air control motor circuits.. the iac motor is screwed onto the bottom of the tb by two screws... also like dino said, make sure its plugged in and not mess up...

air control motor circuits seem to be ok. The wires are fine and the air control motor seems ok. I didn't even take the motor part off the tb. In fact I didn't even take the tb off the intake manifold during the re-build.

could the afx udp be causing this in any way?

Why do my lights get brighter when I rev the engine? The alt. is fine and that is the only thing that I cant think of that would cause the lights to do that.

I am more conserned about the rpms though. I have had about enough of this re-build crap. I have been working for about two months now, loging in about 20 hours a week. I just want to be done!

oh ya, what about the smoke out of the exhaust???

well make sure your fuel pressure is ok, that plays a very important role in proper idling...and if your timing belt is off one tooth from the rebuild, your idle will be goofed up like that too. look at your timing marks and make sure they all line up. if so check the idle fuel pressure and make sure its around 45-50 psi. if those are ok move to checking plugs/wires/coil/injectors. an oxygen sensor, map, or egr are thing i don't think would cause that severe starting and idling pronblem.
