by boring the tb what you are doing is allowing for a better flow of air into the intake manifold. more air=more o2 which = increase power.

Also to add on to what whodatt said it will have a faster throttle response. I am gonna get mine done soon too.

The throttle body is attached on between the intake manifold & your intake tube/pipe.

if your TB is already the same ID as your intake manifold, it wouldn't do much of anything, it could hinder performance as thier would be a step that the air would have to pass over

I rank it right up there with UDP..great mod for the $$ I love mine:)

It is not, or else this mod would never have been done.

I've come up with an experiment to show how a BTB will help(anyone notice that it looks like Businees to Business). Get a straw and put it into a glass of water. First just suck like normal and slowly speed it up, than try just sucking a quickly as possible. Second use your canines(the pointy teeth) to block off the middle of the straw than repeat what you did before. Notice how the large straw let more liquid go through. Also notice how the blocked straw got the liquid to the top in the same amount of time(during the quick suck)but slowed severly once there. Hope this helps give an idea.

I did the numbers one nite and came up with a 15% gain from the 52mm throttle body over the stock 46mm size, 15% more room for air to move through

I didn't think 15% was alot but think of it this way, you buy a certain part for your car that states that it will give you a 15% gain of horsepower, Now I think our cars range between 119-122 whp, so a 15% hp gain would range us between 137-140whp, that is a nice gain

or even think of the straw example stated above, its kind of exaggerated in my way of explaining it but take one of those tiny red coffee straws you use to stir coffee, and suck through it, its hard as hell, now go and get you one of those jumbo straws they give for slurpees and slushies and suck through it, gives you more of an example

if my numbers seem off or wrong, put me in my place

I don't thnk its 15%, just cause you get that much mroe air doesnt mean an exact power increase. Its probably closer to 3-5% gain.

what would you people reccommend me doing - a 52MM TB or a 55MM TB people who have done it naturally 55 would be better but is the difference between a 52 and 55 noticable?? what you be the best to get 52 or 55

I'd suggest boring it to 55mm seeing as how it's 52mm stock.

not 15% gain, that was my example
the stock throttle body is 52, I went over my numbers and it is a 11.8% increase in volume size, that is what I meant, of course you are not going to see 12% gain, but with the engine being able to utilize 12% volume size, throttle response should be less resistant anyway when you send it to howell or by the afx one for 250$ or something like that, they bore it to 55mm, I would think there was a reason for not going more than that, the bigger you bore out the inlet, you are going to have to get a larger butterfly whatchamacalit so you don't idle at like 3000rpms

oh yeah, I don't know where I got 46mm from, but you get the idea
