I have recently noticed a small single poppin or bangin noise when i let out the clutch in 1st and sometimes other low gears. It only happins sometimes. I would like to know if it's normal or i should get it checked out.

Probably your throwout bearing. i wouldn't worry too mcu for now, but if it starts getting worse, i'd be thinking about buying an upgraded clutch (since they all come witha new TO bearing)

I think I have that too. No matter how slow you let the clutch out you can still hear it. I kind of got used to it.

yeah, it doesn't matter how fast you let the clutch out, I guess I didn't notice it because my music is always pretty loud. And I'm gettin an aluminum flywheel and kevlar clutch in 2-3 mounths when i have the money. But will it last that long(the to bearin)

Also how hard is it to do the tranny work yourself.

Heres a question about the flywheel. My friend (who has a honduh civic) says that a lightend flywheel gives you better acceleration off the line. This kid is 19. I have a friend in college that drag races mustangs, and he says a heavy flywheel gets you off the line because of momentum. I belive the guy that races mustangs. Will a lightend flywheel give you top end though?

It gives you a faster rev up because it's lighter and the engine doesn't have to work as hard.

Its basically the same principle as a lightened under drive pulley. With a lighetened flywheel, you'll get the same affect as if you actually took weight off of the car. Though, the impact decreases as you go through the gears. So, say you shaved 9lbs off a flywheel. In 1st gear you would feel the equivalent of 250lbs, in second 185lbs, 3rd 95lbs, etc etc. Those arent real numbers BTW. Rev matching when downshifting is also much easier with a lighter flywheel. As far as our clutch setup... I guess you could lighten the flex plate. But the actual flywheel and clutch are bonded/riveted together in one piece. About doing the work yourself, how comfortable are you with working on cars?

I change the clutch on my nissan 240sx(rwd) and helped my boy do an engine swap in his saturn. but I'm horrable with internal parts i never know what is what. I have never really worked with fwd to much.
