I was wondering if anyone on this board has the OBX Type-H cat back. It costs $350 shipped and its 2.5" piping. If anyone has it how does it sound? I think its suppose to be a replica of the HKS Super Dragger. TIA.

I have the Type H OBX exhaust on my eclipse...and I also emptied the catalytic converter at the same time...when I first got it sounded good...very loud...but now my stock exhaust manifold has a hole in it and needs to be replaced...so it doesn't sound so good anymore...but I plan to get aftermarket headers...and obx racings high flow catalytic converter...but yeah they are good for the money.

I put mine on last Friday. I got it from massive motorsports for 299.00 the shipping was 50.00 it took a while to get. It sounds pretty sweet and the power gain is signifigant. It has a deep growl sound to it. Make sure you bolt it up tight to the chasis or the piping will vibrate against the rear suspension. I had to wire mine along with the rubber flanges because the flanges stretched and let the exhaust hang a little to low and thus the vibration sound.

I have pacesetter piping with an OBX B5 muffler on my car. Its pretty loud but the sound is beautiful. I get mad compliments for its looks and sound. My set-up is probably cheaper than the one your thinking of getting the muffler was about 90 shipped and the exhaust was 150 (i got mine used from 992gnt for 50 bucks though).

1TuffRS- How much is a new pacesetter cat-back? My piping is all rusting and I need something differant.

What does that muffler look like?

The pacesetter catback (2.5in mandrel bent piping) can be found for about 150 bucks. I paid 90 bucks shipped for my muffler. Here is a pic of it before it was installed on my car

I dont think it comes with a thermal coating, but it is aluminized to keep it from rusting. Just keep in mind how long most stock exhausts last, most about 20 yrs before they need to be replaced and thats without the aluminized surface. Its a safe buy and you wont be dissapointed.

where can u find the catback for 150? I've found it on Nopi.com for like 180 or so. And is the cat back for a GS-t the same as GS?

Some guys say the resonator sucks and is kinda buzzy. You may want to spend $20 on a Cherry Bomb type muffler. These can be found at discount auto parts/pepboys. Get a 2.5 inch and have a muffler shop weld it in place of the pacesetter one.

$160 Catback Piping
$20 Better Resonator
$100 Universal Muffler
$80 (at most) for welding and install.

$360 Cat back. Not bad but better than $500 and will sound AND perform the same.

except you are buying two resonators and two mufflers (and not using one set of them). seems like a bit of a waste.. some guys on my board said if you can find a muffler shop that has a manderal bender, they can make you a manderal cat-back for 80 bucks. seems like it'd be a better deal to just get that..

80 bucks for piping
20 for resonator
90-100 for muffler
200 bucks total.. seems like a better deal to me.

well i suppose labor too.. 50-80 bucks
so 250-280.. still a mucho better price. (if you can find a muffler shop with a manderal bender) I've heard that SOME midas's do.
