Well thats my second ps belt this year. And i need to put a new one on, thank got it didn't break and the side just got shredded a little bit.

Well my question is, I read somewhere about somebody using a narrow belt, for something like this. Like i said just one side of it is frayed up, and I was thinking maybe is just slid a little over and hit the edge or something and maybe a narrow belt would help this? (where could i get one of these)

Also, anywhere I can see a write up on how exactly to install the power steering belt. Costs too much to take it somewhere.

I'm pretty sure it's the power steering belt, it's the one in the front passenger side of the engine that goes forward to back in the engine..

i havent tried the skinny belt aproach, but to put it back on is very simple, you should see my belt is like i haver parts of it now, but unless it snaps, i'm not going to change it.


There are 2 bolts that you need to move, the one that holds the pulley in place(Bolt #1), and the one that moves the pulley closest to the front of the car or the back of the car(Bolt #2).

Free up a little (just a little do not take out the bolt)Bolt#1 so the pulley can move front and back with out problem.

Unscrew Bolt#2 so the pulley moves to the front of the car

Put the belt on

Screw in Bolt #2 so the pulley moves to the back of the car (You will notice some tension in the belt now)

Screw in Bolt #1 so the again they pulley doesn't move around.

Done

When you look at your engine bay and look at the tensioner pulley it will all make sense..hope so

the p/s a/c belt is a 5 ribbed 50 inch belt. u can use a 4 ribbed belt like u mentioned. i have done this, and i didnt shred it, but it jumped back and forth sometimes (i would see with hood popped off that it was on the other side)...

if you only have powersteerin, and a/c i feel for u, and u have to get a smaller belt.

the inches i have mentioned is for the afx udp belt size... if u have stock crank pulley, just take your belt to an auto store, and tehy will be able to tell the size, just tell em u want a 4ribbd belt instead of a 5riber.
