Don't worry I'm not asking which one is the best :)

Anyways, I got a cheap cone filter and installed it. However I notice no sound change - people said I should hear a growl or whistle but even when I have my hood open I hear nothing. The other thing is when I took of my stock air box, when I ripped the part connected to the car (closest to the fender) a big bottom piece that was screwed on came with it - looks like its the simulated brake scoop? Should that have stayed on? Is it hurting without it because I'll just hook up a cold air intake in spring :)
