17547, Short ram VS CAI Posted by SaberKhan, Mar-15-02 04:27 AM
I know the power gain for a CAI is higher than on a short ram, but does anyone know the exact numbers? I've been running the same old Tenzo short ram for 4 years now. The AEM cai wasnt even available then I dont believe. Its worn out, has a HUGE dent from the battery post, a broken bracket and a big crack in it. That, and I'm getting a steal on parts again. My best friend and two other guys opened their own business. They've gotten the legalities in order, and now have business accounts. Mad prices :) Lemme know if anyone is interested in parts, as I'm sure he'll hook up my fellow 2GNT'ers.

Funny you should post something like this. Ive been wondering the same question. My AEM is about a year old, but its almsot got a hole in it from rubbing the battery post and my filter is all beat up. Im considering either getting a CAI or going back to stock. If I could see some numbers to justify getting the CAI that would be great. Thanks for posting this!!

I've been wondering how much better a CAI is over a drilled airbox. I can't see spending $150+ for one if it only gives an extra hp or 2.

check the mods section, someone did a hp test with stock, some other cai, and aem cai. aem added 9 hp not moving. they said with hood down and wind blowing u could expect 11-12 hp. I got an AEM, looks nice, and sounds bass-ass deep at high rpms. i think it was worth it
