Anyone notice drops in the power band? I just changed my plugs, wires should be ok (year old). I don't get it. I have two or three slight drops in power on my powerband and I want to smooth out the power band.

Any suggestions?

butt-dyno or a real dyno numbers? it is a AT but it still has to SHIFT you know, maybe that is it?

I can't believe you would insult my inteligence with like that! Thats when its in first or second gear! Not the shift point!

What kind of gap did you set your plugs to?

i spoke w/evul one day about gappin, and hes gapped low, like 0.043 or 0.046 i have gapped at 0.053 and am now at 0.050
we are both n/a, so we figuerd our engines are unique and would respond diff to diff gaps.
my gaps are w/magancore8.5s. i gapped at .042 w/stock wires to be safe when i had to

umm, other than that, u say its a sudden point where there is no power in the rpm band? does it happen in every gear? at low rpms or high.

i know turbo guys have probs w/map sensor voltage and power levels throughout the rpm band.....

maybe u have a kink in one of your fuel lines?

I would start by changing the plug wires, I have an extra set that I keep around as a tester set incase I am having problems and sometimes they are the problem. Also like the others said, what RPM does it happen at?

The auto just feels weak. Like in a stock car, the auto above 5500 rpm feels really weak like it loses all power and there is almost no point of revving any more. Also, it has no power under 3k rpm. Even with mods, it seems like the most power that you can feel is between 3500 to 5500 rpm. Most likely nothing is wrong with your car. If the plugs were gapped too big, then you might see a bit of hesitation at high rpms, or a rough idle maybe. But it doesn't sound like it...

Automatic non-turbos dont have a powerband...didnt you know that?

I have my plugs gapped to stock specs. It's not a big slow down or anything it's just that at 3k ish and at I think it was around 5k the It seems to make a sudden jump in power. I should take the thing to a dyno and see what I'm puting down to the ground.

After cleaning out the intake manifold and getting rid of the EGR My car pulls all the way to redline}> It's great:) I used to feel that drop in power before the redline and I wouldn't even floor it because it wasn't worth it!

I think I'll change the plugs and regap (smaller gap) over the weekend or something.

try the fuel filter that should give more power even if it's not the problem. i have a 95 and mine was 21 bills. can't see how it would be anymroe if your obd2
