16780, Replacing rockers?
Posted by 99Eclipse, Mar-08-02 01:05 AM
I was told by a performance shop in my area that mostly deals with bolt ons that in order to run a 75 and 150 shot I would need to replace my rockers. Is this true? Are there aftermarket 1s available if I do need to?

Hmmm. . . I don't see a reason that you would HAVE to change them but the PT Cruiser rockers and lifters are redesigned and can handle higher RPM and don't have the stupid bends in them that snap.

So in other words ours are weak and mine might snap?

Not for no reason at all they shouldn't. I broke one because I installed regrind cams without shimming the lifters until a week later. The rocker was damaged because of the space in the rocker and cams and valvestem. Notrous by itself should not cause any problems with the valvetrain if thats what you are worried about. If you have the money to spend they are a good idea. The lifter was also redesigned with a larger oil hole which will help with some valvetrain noise.

I plan on installing cams to, thats all I need is to spray and tear my motor apart and rebuild it twice so I want to do the build up rite the 1st time. What else can you think of that I should upgrade when doing my rebuild that is often overlooked? Where can I get the rockers off a PT Cruiser from or are they even worth replacing in my situation?

All I would need is the rockers off the PT cruiser? Anything else off of it?

I might just stop at a chrysler dealership and order the parts.

howell automotive sells them, probably cheaper than you can get them through the dealer. Its like 90 bucks for the set of 16

DO NOT BUY FROM THE DEALER UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY $250 FOR THE ROCKERS AND $250 FOR THE LIFTERS.

You can get the rockers AND lifters from www.blackdogmotorsports.com for $209.

Do they fit perfectly?

They are a direct replacement.

If you go to mitsu and ask for a lifter or rocker, it's gonna be a revised (PT CRUISER) lifter or rocker they're going to hand you. It supercedes our lifter or rocker.

You can get the lifters AND rockers for $170 bux shipped.

Talk to Bob Kise. Check www.asog.net/bbs2 under announcement forum under topic "Stock parts for discount" or something like that. The guy is THE MAN to get discounted parts from.
