1668, Check out this article about OBDII and S-AFC

I know it came from the Honda board, but what they are concerned with shouldn't be Honda-specific. My brother forwarded this to me. I think it's of no concern unless b/c our ECU only compensates 20-something % on the fuel curve.

Just curious to see everyone else's reaction(s).

But the S-AFC changes the actual signal that gets to the ECU, from sensors like the MAP that set fuel curve. I can see the O2 sensors tryign to compensate, and if you read RRE site on this say the ECU does this. But with enough tuning the you can compensate for the ECU's attempt to bring it back. read this article form an actual shop and not some guy in his garage with a Honda.

I'd have to say I trust Road Race much farther, that a guy who decides to reset his ECU by cutting the memory power line. Because if the computer is going to compensate it will compensate fairly quickly, while you drive, and the entire concept of the S-AFC is useless. The ECU can make adjustments fairly quickly and has to, if it really sees a problem it's not going to take weeks to reset ingnition timing etc. So personnaly I don't put too much faith in his mod or his theory. Does the ECU make adjustments? Yes. Should it make adjusts? Yes.

Either way the S-AFC is among one of my next big mods. (Tires, then S-AFC or Header)

well said Michael !

The AFC modify your Map sensor output, it does not delete it or make it out of specs, so for as long as you don't over lean or richen your AFC, your ECU will still think that this is what's the Map sensor is out putting and will curve the A/F curve according to that. the only reason you will want to do what that Honda guy says is when you add whatever mod you do, and your ECU does not like it much and decides to throw the CEL and run go into limp mods (when the ECU decides to run hella rich and pull the timing back to save the engine because it thinks something is wrong)
