Has anyone tried using custom steel tubing for air intake?

I mean it does make sense...steel is not a good conductor of heat.

it would work, but supposedly the best is to just put a cone filter on the stock tube, it helps keep the low end torque which is sometimes hurt by CAI, I noticed that when I put my iceman on the low end torque suffered but the car sounded better and high end was increased, but many say the stock tube with a cone filter is best

I had the AEM CAI be4, for some reason I took it off, now I have the stock intake box with K&N filter inside. I feel I have more low end torque than CAI, does the K&N drop in filter as good as the cone filter at the end of stock tube but it provide more low end torque?

Did you put holes in your intake box?

no you just remove the air box and add a cone filter to it

which is better? remove the airbox and add a cone to the end or just drill hole on air box, I want more low end.

The long tubing of the cold air intake hurts low end, but the increase in mid and high range power MORE than makes up for it. They have dyno's of stock tubing with filter vs AEM CAI and the CAI is way better overall. The stock tubing is restrictive, but gives you a bit more low end torque so it feels faster initially.
