Im wondering what everyone likes in here? I guess a 2.5" is plenty. Im looking for the quietest, most effeciant exhaust. Whats everyone think?

Pacestter with GST muffler. its all you need!

Everyone says use a pacesetter. How is the qualtiy of that cat back, it looks sweet being black, but how is it? Whats the diameter?

personally, i chose pacesetter, cuz for 170 dukkets, u cant go wrong. 2.5" mandrel bent.

you can however call around to muffler shops and see how much custom piping will be, but most places press bend their pipes, and that isnt good.

for n/a, 2.5 is enough, and for turbo, 2.5 is small, and 3 is better.

mandrel bent pipes keep the same diameter throughout the bent.
press bent pipes diameter at the bend is reduced. The greater the bend the smaller the diameter.

yeah what ^ said. and we have at least two 90º bends before you go up over the crossmember. goin over the cross member will make a 'U' shape so that's about two more 90º bends.

What is the stock size of our pipes? I think I heard 2.25".

ya, stock is 2.25 press bent, and that measurement is on the outside of the pipe, the inside would be a lil smaller. also, some people have posted up sizes smaller than 2inches in some places on teh stock exhaust.

the best cat-back, would prolly be thermal research or greddy since they test all their products for maximum performance efficiency.
but their products cost more than 2 of what i have done to mine.

I'm sure that the pacesetter piping is fine, but I've heard the whole system with the pacesetter muffler on a non-turbo 2G and it sounds like ass. Yea, it's better than stock, but pales in comparison to the sound of other aftermarket exhausts. I have an Apex-i World Sport and it's got a nice mellow sound. It's only loud if you want it to be.
The downside is that it's kind of pricey, $470 from RRE. Once you get that bad boy on and hear it and see how nice and subtle it looks you'll forget how much it cost :). BTW it's 2.5 in. mandrel bent.

Greddy EVO under my car, I like it. Kinda like what was said above, it has a decent sound and isn't obnoxiously loud unless you want it to be (being on the throttle). But in all honesty I was going to go with the pacesetter just because of cost issues, I just got a great deal on my Greddy ;)

I JUST installed a pacesetter catback, i love it lots of power gain from it also it doesnt sound bad at all i kinda like the sound from it, its that yellow muffler that kinda steers me wrong lol but it will turn black soon enough and it will look like 1000 bucks dont waste your money getting something that you can accomplish the same thing...

I had a pacesetter chrome tip and it only lasted 6 months before rusting through. It was painteds black just like the exhaust. I would try to fing something stainless so i will last foreever. You can get a OBX Catback on ebay for like $270

Thats why I'm looking at the N1 catback for its high quality plus its ceramic coated and all that crap, Do they make a 2.75in diameter version. If I end up running high rev(ie 8500-9500rpm) than I will need some bigger piping than 2.5 right?

I say go with the pacesetter. Even with the muffler that comes with it it sounds good. I just hated the way the tip looked on my car so I went with an OBX muffler. It sounds great. My only complaint is the damned rattling. Since I finally have a job Im gonna take it to an exhaust shop and get it fixed.

The N1 kicks some major ass in the looks dept. kills the greddy evo and almost every other exaust. the offset design looks good and the piping itself is of expert quality .. when i had mine installed the mechanic really liked its constuction over the stock system . the sound it makes is also a intense to say the least. ( without the baffle of course ) power gains like with anyother exaust is minimal and can only be felt at top end .. but im not arguing

when I installed my exhaust I put my rims on at the same time so I felt a VERY minimal increase in power. I think the exhaust offset the power deficit that the GSX rims (25lbs. per rim, compared to the stock 14's this is a big difference) made.

Hey TuffRS, did you have to get better shocks or camber kits when you got your springs? Your car looks great with those springs and the GSX rims.

Have one custom made, you'll be happier in the long run, and it will be cheaper, you can also straighten the exhaust out quite a bit, the ones you buy are pretty restrictive for aftermarket systems if you ask me

Thanks man. No i havent upgraded the shocks or put a camber kit on, but the ride is fine. I do plan on upgrading to some adjustable shocks soon though since my car club is now sponsored and we only have to pay a minimal amount

I like my Greddy SP, but my neighbors don't since they can hear my rumble coming a block away.
