1562, HELP!!!! Belt keeps slipping off. Posted by robbain, May-06-01 08:35 AM
I got a 95 ESi without A/C. My power steering belt slipps off everytime I hit about 4000 rpm's. I have replaced the belt about 3 times in the last 2 months. Both pully's seem to be in good shape, no dents scratches etc. And they look to be aligned, but my main question is, the tensioner is built into the power steering bracket, do you think it is possible that this bracket could be bent??? This is really starting to piss me off. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

had the same problem ....there is a new style bracket with a 2"dia idler that is an approxamite size...but it is bigger than the old style....the dealers should know about this....also if there has been anything done to the main crank pulley then you need to check there....i bought my car from a guy and they replace the engine.....well long/short the main crank pulley was 3/16" off , obviously teh guy didnt have a press or the proper tools ....but try thos things and see if that helps.
