1558, HELP?? MY Baby is OVERHEATING Posted by Ed96GS, May-06-01 06:20 AM
Hello,
I seem to be having an overheating problem. To begin with, for the last couple of days my radiator fan has not been working, the air conditioning fan is working though. So i checked the fuse and the fuse is ok. Next what i did is that i disconnceted the fan and i just wired it straight to the battery. I though that this would work but even though both fans are working now i am still overheating. The weird thing is that when the car is running the the street the temperature is ok, but when i am stopped, it begins to overheat. I am suspecting that it may be the thermostat, if it is i need to know where it is and how i change it. What do you guys think. PLEASE HELP!!
THanks Eddie

The thermostat is right behind the housing on the upper radiatior hose where the hose meets the engine. If you know where the radiator cap is you know where I mean. Its two bolts and all you have to do it take the old one out, put the new one in making sure its facing the right way, put the new gasket in and bolt it back in place..shouldn't take but half hour tops.

make sure the fans aren't turning backwards (blowing hot air from your motor onto your radiator)
Bring it on............
