15395, any update on the AFX chip? Posted by VX100, Feb-20-02 11:58 PM
Gary, any word on how that is progressing? Or has anyone else heard?
I'm thinking about holding off on my search for timing adjustment and finish up some bolt ons first, if there is a good possibility of getting an AFX ecu upgrade instead.

As soon as I get a core we are looking at a 6 to 8 week time frame for alpha testing.

I thought Armond had already sent out the core.

Yeah, but Armond put it in the mail Monday. Give it some time to get there. I would think it would be there very shortly.
Trying to decide how best to take me at this years Shoot Out Todd?

I can start by telling you it is a 97 Avenger ES with the NVT-350 5-speed manual but he will need to give you all the other specs.

yeah, late 97 model. Avenger 4 cyl 5 spd. with abs. on the note I put in there with it, I asked to get the rev-limiter removed, and get the timing advanced more at wot. I run the accel dfi, so I won't have any use for fuel curve adjustments.

heh heh, Mike I've got a reputation to keep as the shootout NT champion, right?
Wow, now I LIKE the way that sounds! Champion!
:P
If I don't have to worry about wiring in a questionable device into my car (the apexi ITC), then so much the better.

Hey Todd, have you looked into the programmable MSD DIS-2? They say you can adjust individual cylinder timing with it.

no I have not
If you could give me some information on it, or a web address where I could get some info, I'd appreciate it

you can't adjust individual cylinder timing on our cars with anything becaseu we use a wastespark ignition (2 plugs fire simultaneously.) in the instructions for the programble dis-2 you will also find this information. cam sync can't be used on our cars.

in the instructions for the programble >dis-2 you will also find this information. cam sync can't >be used on our cars. > So we gotta use the TEC-II with the modified UR UDP with crank trigger then to get control of our timing, right?

not sure about the tec. 2, but you can retard "timing" with the progamable dis-2, you just can't retard cyl. 1 more than cyl 4 or cyl 2 more than cyl 3, etc.

Is there no way to swtich to 4 individual coils like some of the 4G63 guys do.
|
15412, RE: any update on the AFX chip? Posted by Michael_97RS, Feb-25-02 03:18 AM
4 coils would be difficult since the ECU sends a signal to fire coil 1 or coil 2. not to fire on cylander 1, cylander 2 etc. It's either 1-4 or 2-3. If I remember the programmable DIS still has rpm adjustments? doesn't it? (at work and don't have time to look)
I would use the TEC3, it new and improved and will handle things better than the TEC-II. The WINTEC 3D software looks very nice. It's what I will eventually use.
