What do you guys think, rebuild before I turbo or what? My "performance shop" guy says that he can get an engine for me for 1280 shipped. Then I would probably get the Howell rebuild kit. Or should I just say f-it and turbo it? Tell me what you think I should do.

why would you buy a whole new engine and then rebuild it? Just rebuild the one you have.

That 125 in number 2 is very low. i wouldnt turbo untill you rebuild. Do the test again and see what happens.

ok, i dont mean to be getting on anybodys case, but he cant rebuild the engine he has because he cant get around with out his car. so the question is how long would it take to get his motor's internals swapped out. if he payed could a shop do it in a day. and maybe put on the turbo too. or could they just do the engine, get it working again, then he would bring it back the next weekend to get the turbo put on there. but even if there is no way to get it put in very quickly then a rental car is alot cheaper than a whole new block. or if he is a do it yourselfer then could he do it in a day. just wondering.

did you do the compression test with the engine hot? That can effect your numbers

for the twelve hundred dollars you would be spending for a new engine, you could by a second car and then sell it afterwards.

try putting about a tablespoon of clean oil on the top of your pistons then run the compression again.. if the compression rises after adding oil to it that means your rings or cylinder bore is damaged/worn. if the pressure remains the same valves just aren't seating like they should. is it smoking that's a good sign of engine failure... but i do know that anything around 170-225psi is good and the service limit is around 100 psi.. but just remember there should be like a +/- difference of 25% from your highest compression

I had a shop do the test. I am just going to do the rebuild to have it done right the first time. Now I am just trying to find a place in Austin that can do it, that is reliable. I am not opposed to paying $1000 for someone to rebuild my engine if I give them an engine and the Howell rebuild kit. I just have to find someone to do it.

get the stroker kit... thats what i wanna do and plus, when you get that its boost torque!
