15035, Intercooler on a non-turbo??

Can you put a intercooler on a non-turbo? I want some cold air and just wanted to know if it would work. and what do you need to hook up an intercooler or do you just hook one end to the TB and the other to a filter?

you have all those mods in ur sig, and not know that you cannot use an intercooler with a CAI? Sillious!

(nice wing, btw) ;-)

A cold air intake is FAR more effective than this would ever be. By adding an intercooler you would create such a restriction in the airflow it wouldn't be funny. A turbo forces the air through it, by adding an intercooler turbo guys lose a couple pounds of boost image what this would do to a naturally aspired motor who can't force the air through it. You would slow yourself down a LOT.

Sillious indeed...oh, the answer to your question...NO!!! Intercoolers are for turbos only...}>

I had the an idea, make cooling fins on a CAI and make some way to have air blow by them to cool it off more. Actually for better results yo could spray water on the fins and as they evaporated they draw more heat away.

On a NA motor the Cold Air intake is the best solution, with the only exception being a ram air set. The Cold Air intake already puts the filter away from the heat of the engine. You pull in cool air from outside you are not going to get the air any cooler than the outside air anyway, so just stick with a cold air intake.

ya CAI is all you'll need NA. Haha or you can get one of those FMCAI hehe. Or if you just want it for the looks you can get a plastic intercooler bwahahah! Anyway the reason turbos need an intercooler is because a turbo compresses air. hehe you notice a lotta people call turbos hair driers? What happens when you compress air? It become hot, so you run air through a heatsink or watercooled core to cool it down before it goes into the engine. True it give the effect of a CAI but like they said it's got restriction. I lost 1 PSI of boost due to my intercooler so imagine if you had one on a NA engine.

those front mount cool air intakes are trash. the filter blocks air instead of letting it pass through like i/s's do. the end result is blocking your radiator and overheating

VIS racing sells that fiberglass one for NT's that is good for 100 extra HP. :P
